Tall Paul was recorded by Annette for Paul Anka while they were dating. And in return Paul Anka wrote and recorded Puppy Love for Annette.

Annette's romance with Paul Anka was a high spot of the year. Singer Paul Anka found Annette "glamorous...the kind of girl you want to marry."

"Tall Paul" reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1959. It was the highest-charting song by Annette Funicello and also one of the shortest, clocking in at 1 minute and 38 seconds.

Annette Funicello, the dark-haired darling of TV's “The Mickey Mouse Club” in the 1950s who further cemented her status as a pop-culture icon in the '60s by teaming with Frankie Avalon in a popular series of “beach” movies.
