Georgia Pineywoods

Bobby Osborne

Miss those Georgia Pineywoods
Ancient home of the Cree
And the Cherokee and me

I was born in the Georgia Pineywoods
Fifteen miles from the grocery store
No T.V., or gold plated shiney goods
Krackled linoleum on the floor

We had cows in the back fields grazin
Chickens, a clacking out in the pen
Life were good but its amazing
How I couldn't see that back then

Miss those Georgia Pineywoods
Wonder if they miss me
Lonesome for those Pineywoods
Ancient home of the Cree
And the Cherokee and me

When I'd look for Indian arrowheads
I was happy as Borden's cow
I lost all my Indian arrowheads
They ain't no good to me here, no how

I get paid now by the hour
And live my typical Southern life
Got credit cards and buying power
And I own more money than Caesar's wife

Miss those Georgia Pineywoods
Wonder if they miss me
Lonesome for those Pineywoods
Ancient home of the Cree
And the Cherokee and me
